Neighbors Building Neighborhoods operates three youth programs at the Dr. Muskogee Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center. These programs provide nutrition and educational and recreational programming to youth ages seven and up. Enrollment is open to all Muskogee youth. After School Program

Monday-Friday, 3:30-6:00 pm (August-May)
Quality support system for over 100 students in grades K–6th, staffed with certified teachers and counselors. Download and print the enrollment form HERE.

  • Homework assistance, tutoring, and test preparation assistance
  • Partnership with Muskogee Public Schools improves collaboration and communication between classroom teachers and tutors
  • Partnerships with the Muskogee Co. Health Department engage students in health and nutrition education with community gardening workshops and cooking demonstrations
  • Transportation is provided from Muskogee schools to the MLK Jr. Community Center. Parents and caregivers are responsible for picking up their children.
  • Gang Resistance Education and Training (G.R.E.A.T.) with local police officers

 

Night Hoops

Friday-Saturday, 7:30-11:30 pm (nine-week summer program beginning in June)
Positive environment for children ages seven and up with fun, healthy, and educational activities for undeserved youth in Muskogee.

  • Over 350 average kids attend per evening
  • 3 on 3 Basketball tournaments each week
  • Concession stand
  • Other activities include dancing, arts and crafts, reading, and more

 

Summer Learning Program

Monday-Friday, 9:00 am-2:00 pm (June-August)
Provides nutrition and educational activities for children ages 7-18, download and print the enrollment form HERE.

  • Wholesome physical and educational activities
  • Focus on mentoring, learning skills, outdoor activities, health, and fitness
